Ryan Orr of Ticor Title spearheads nonprofit Operation Community Cares!

By Brent Bruce

What an amazing day we had at our Operation Community Cares packing day on Saturday, November 16.  We estimate over 200 people come out and joined in all the work that goes into preparing and shipping packages to our military men and women overseas for Christmas delivery.

Our goal is to let our service people know that they are not forgotten and that they are appreciated, especially during the special holiday season of Christmas.  But if you were there you may have noticed something special.  The truth is, we began the day somewhat concerned.  Both our donations of items to pack and our funding for the postage were well below where they would normally be.  Two nights earlier a water main had broken at our storage facility and much of our materials and some donations had been ruined.  There was an estimate that we would be lucky to ship 300 boxes this time around, less than 1/3 of our largest shipment.

Wisely, our fearless leader, Ryan Orr, began the event in hopeful prayer, asking the Lord to multiply these provisions in ways we could not understand, that this may be the bread and the fish.  Never before had we seen this come to fruition right before our eyes.  Volunteers and donors streamed in with bags and boxes of donations.  Financial donations also came pouring in, doubling our existing balance in only hours.

We finished the day with over 650 boxes ready to ship to our men and women serving overseas.  We were truly moved at how God had been at work that day.  Right here on the campus of CBC.

Thank you to all who participated in so many ways.  We look forward to our spring packing day to see what He has for us again!
