Proposing Change to Rancho Cucamonga West Side Parks and Lighting

Kelly Donaldson of the Rancho Cucamonga Fire District recently held a talk on updates to the West Side.  She discussed the general state of the parks and streets and the need for new adequate outdoor lighting throughout the district.

Because the existing funding for parks and streets is no longer adequate and there is a need for a street lighted district which will promise to reduce crime, thefts, graffiti and vandalism as well as support rapid emergency response she proposes continued community input.  Over the past 18 months residents have engaged in community conversations to determine the needs of the residents and potential solutions.

A new plan would propose a rate of $89 per household per year, and a $44.50 charge per household for seniors 65+ to go towards raising money for these needed solutions.  This would be for existing homes only.  On newly constructed homes there would be a proposed $178 charge to raise these funds.  All revenues will be deposited into a separate fund that will only be used to maintain and improve the West-Side parks, lighting and landscaping.

The city of Rancho Cucamonga is asking for YOUR feedback on this measure.  This is proposed to go to vote this November so it is important that they hear from us now!  Let the city know what you think and together we can help improve our city one change at a time!
